My name is Erin Knight, I was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo. I stayed local for University and graduated with a Psychology Degree from Wilfred Laurier. During University I lived in a student house which my parents had purchased and they did some renovations prior to us moving in. This allowed my friends and myself to live in a nice home while also giving me a break on the rent. We took care of the house and made it our own and after we were done university my parents sold it and made a great profit. This piqued my interest in pursuing a career in real estate. I thought if I could find the houses and my dad could renovate them, we could start a flipping business. While getting my license I worked for a local property management company and learned a lot about the rental housing market, leasing, and the landlord tenant act.
Once I was fully licensed I realized “flipping” was not as easy as I thought it would be and I needed to sell houses to keep up with all the fees and expenses.
I met my husband Curt during a course and we ended up teaming up and working together. We both have the same desire to build our own investment portfolio and with my background in rental management, I have run with that side of our business and our 7 rental properties. It has been a valuable tool in helping and advising investors to get started or aid in expanding the portfolios of seasoned investors.
Selling real estate has been a very rewarding career for me. From the excitement of buyers getting into their new home to the look on a client’s face when you tell them their house is sold. It is a challenging and rewarding job and I have been fortunate to have met so many wonderful people along the way.
