Fivewalls: How Many Real Estate Agents Should You Interview?

Sellers, Buyers, Tips & Advice
Last Updated: Jun 11, 2020

Searching for the right agent to sell your house is just as important as searching for your next home. Why? Because you will be working closely together and the sale of your home is dependent on them.

How Many Real Estate Agents Should I Interview?

Typically, people will reach out to three different real estate agents and compare their answers, but if you are still not impressed with their answers, you may have to interview more. You will know who you connect with, so if it takes you several agents to reach that connection, so be it.

What Questions Should I Ask?

Create a list of questions you want to ask your top choices for agents. Compare their answers and if you still are not sure, interview another three and compare their answers again. Do not feel bad if you have to interview more than three, the agent is probably used to it!

Ask them questions like:

  • interview, real estate agent, realtor, questions to ask a realtor, interviewing real estate agents, how many real estate agents you should interview, how to find a realtor“How long have you been in the industry?”
  • “How will we keep in touch and communicate?”
  • “What is your marketing strategy?”
  • “Which neighborhoods do you specialize in?”
  • “What other professionals can you connect me with?”
  • “What can you offer me that other agents cannot?”
  • “What is your commission?”
  • “What else would you like to tell me about yourself?”

Reviewed Reputation

If you are stuck on who to reach out too, make sure you are checking for the agent’s reviews. On Fivewalls, a higher number of reviews plays a huge role in who customers reach out too – it proves how happy clients were with the agent’s services. Reading positive feedback from past clients will help you make an informed decision and will ease your mind.

Referrals

A great way to start finding agents is to ask friends and family for referrals and why they really enjoyed working with their agent. But remember, just because they suggested someone and they have a great proven track record of success, does not necessarily mean that real estate agent will be right for you.

Do not be afraid to ask specific questions. You are trying to find a dedicated professional who will not only be the agent who sells your home, but will be your friend and possibly your agent for life. Ask around for suggestions on who to contact, but keep in mind they may not be the right agent for you. Sometimes having to interview more than three real estate agents is necessary.
