Filling up a large space can seem difficult at first, but there are lots of ways to make your large room feel as cozy and welcoming as a small space!
1. Large L-Shaped Couches
These sectional couches are a great way to fill space in a large room or even divide the rooms if they are combined.
2. Reading Nooks
Even though you already have a sitting area, create a little space that you can curl up in a chair and read a book. If you have a bay window, take advantage of the ledge and place pillows on there for a cozy nook too.
3. End & Coffee Tables
Place a coffee table in the middle of your living area, but also use end tables beside your couches or chairs for lamps and extra décor.
4. Add Carpets
Carpets have the power the make a small space seem bigger or fill in all the extra space. Choose a design that has a lot of colour or stripes and match it with the pillows on the couch or chairs.
5. T.V Stand
To fill in space, do not mount your T.V. Buy a nice stand that will fill the space well and that also works as a cabinet for your movies and books!
6. Potted Plants
There are lots of beautiful large plants that can fill the room and that are easy to take care of. They do not just have to be placed in the corner. Plants look good anywhere!
7. Fill Your Wall Space
Leaving your walls empty could make the room seem not as finished. You do not just need to decorate with pictures. Use mirrors, shelves, lights or hang plants too.
8. Accent Colours
Use neutral colours for the walls and flooring but then bring out colour in the rest of the furniture and décor and throw in a vibrant pattern or two.
9. Buy A Bookshelf
If you are a book fanatic, place them all on display on a large bookshelf. It does not just have to be used for books. Place décor, lights, candles, plants, etc. on the shelves too.
10. Add Chairs & A Loveseat
Buy a full set to fill the space, and that way everyone has a place to sit when you have company over. If your chair or couches recline that will take up even more space, so make sure you are spacing everything out.
Filling a large space can be hard, especially if you are on a budget. But there are lots of reclaimed furniture stores and second-hand stores to find all your extra décor you may want. Let decorating be a fun experience to create a cozy living space for your family and friends to enjoy.
